Excellent meal. Very wide menu with some unusual choices, the Pigeon was very good. Good friendly service – will definitely recommend to friends and family.

*Such a fun evening…”
This was such a fun evening for us! The experience of dining while blindfolded was exciting and guessing the courses was much harder than I thought it would be. The food was truly inspiring and the staff took such good care of us. Please let us know when this event roles around again. A big thank you to everyone at the Eight Bells for making this a great night!
“Really nice choice…”
Really nice choice of sandwiches, good to see different fillings, the chicken and pesto was delicious. The staff were really friendly and welcoming.

*We shall be back…”
Lovely surroundings, pleasant ambience and good food, especially the starters. Thank you for a wonderful and entertaining experience. We shall be back with our second child.
We visited Saffron Walden for the first time today and without a clue of where to eat (with a dog in tow), decided to pick the brains of the Information Centre and kept our fingers crossed that the bistro style with outside seating in the town centre was going to be nice. We were wrong! It wasn’t nice…..it was LOVELY! Service was impeccable, the ‘secret garden’ was sunny and welcoming and the food delicious! We went for the 3 course lunchtime menu, each having the rare roast beef starter, smoked haddock and salmon fishcake and warm chocolate brownie (sadly the eton mess had sold oult!). Couldn’t fault any of it – all the flavours worked very well together in each dish and we had a really lovely time. The only slight hitch was that I had asked for cream rather than ice-cream – the waitress noticed the error straight away and although I said it was fine, she went on to bring some cream out aswell anyway! Great service! The bread was homemade and the ice-cream very nice too (despite my being a bit of an ice-cream snob!). All in all, ten out of ten and sad we live such a long way away! Thanks for a lovely, memorable lunch!
“Wonderful place to eat”
Our first visit on Fathers Day, a late booking too. The service was excellent, Charlie who was serving us for the duration was wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble him and the other staff who attended our table. They were extremely accommodating with my 9 year old son. Polite at all times and very friendly. The food was first class no complaints from anyone. Leave room for the Dessert, they are to die for. Look forward to returning even though it is quite a distance for us to travel, it was well worth it. Congratulations to one and all at the Eight Bells Saffron Waldon Christine and family
